Indianapolis, Indiana – Starting this Friday, the 50th Indy GreekFest will take place.

The two-day festival offers you the chance to learn about the Orthodox Christian Faith while experiencing Greek culture through delectable cuisine, exciting music, and traditional dances.

The 50th anniversary of GreekFest, one of the oldest and largest ethnic celebrations in central Indiana, will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox in 2023.

Central Indiana has been served by the parish of Holy Trinity for more than a century. Greek immigrants founded it, and its original location was on West Street.

The parish, however, exceeded its space in 1961 and relocated to 40th and Pennsylvania streets. The GreekFest is currently held at Holy Trinity, which is located on a 20-acre campus in Carmel, Indiana.

Genuine Greek cuisine, delectable pastries, and fine wines are the festival’s main draws.

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult; admission is free.

Daybreak was joined by Lenie Tsakonas, the marketing director for Indy GreekFest, to discuss all things Greek.

Tsakonas explained how to create tzatziki dip, a traditional Greek delicacy. She uses Greek yogurt, English cucumber that has been shaved, minced garlic, and freshly squeezed lemon in her recipe. With the pita chips, it tasted excellent.

You may sample a variety of dips at the Greek festival this year, including this one.
