Indiana’s gas tax will decrease in December
Indianapolis, Indiana – Beginning on December 1, Indiana’s gasoline use tax, which is basically the state’s sales tax on fuel, will decrease to 18.6 cents per gallon.
That is the lowest amount since March of this year and a decrease of about three cents since October.
Compared to December of last year, it is nearly five cents less.
The average wholesale price of gasoline for the preceding month serves as the basis for the use tax.
With effect from December 1, the total amount of state and federal taxes on a gallon of gasoline will be 71.0 cents.
