Indiana’s Women’s Basketball Team Ranked In Top 10 For First Time Ever
The Indiana women’s basketball team cracked the top 10 for the first time in school history Monday, earning the No. 10 spot in the latest Associated Press poll.
Indiana is now 14-2 in the Big Ten, one shy of the school record for conference wins in a season set in 1983, with two home games remaining.
The Hoosiers are coming off an 87-75 win over then-No. 15 Ohio State on Saturday, their first win in Columbus since 2002 and first win over the Buckeyes since 2010.
“We have some goals and expectations on how we want to end the regular season playing our best basketball,” Indiana head coach Teri Moren said. “Even though it wasn’t our best basketball (Saturday), it was enough.”
Indiana trailed by nine points early in the fourth quarter before rallying for the win.
“We’re a veteran team, we’ve been in those situations before, so we don’t think we’re ever out of it,” junior guard Grace Berger said. “We never freak out and we stay calm and know that if we keep following our game plan and keep grinding it out, we can come out with a win.”
Indiana has won seven straight games and 11 of its last 12 games to improve to 16-4 overall
The Hoosiers host Iowa Wednesday and wrap up the regular season at home against Purdue Saturday.
Sophomore center Mackenzie Holmes averages team-highs of 17.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Berger averages 15.0 points per game, and senior Ali Patberg adds 13.9 points per game.
