Indy Ignite win first match in franchise history

Fishers, Indiana – On Saturday night, the Fishers Event Center hosted the inaugural Indy Ignite match.

In four matches, the Ignite defeated the Orlando Valkyries 3-1.

Orlando won the first set of the match, 25–13. Then, to win the match, Indy won three consecutive sets with scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-21, respectively.

With 25 kills, Leketor Member-Meneh, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, spearheaded the charge for the Ignite. Another University of Kentucky graduate with 19 kills was Azhani Tealer.

With 44 assists during the match, Sydney Hilley led the Ignite in assists. In addition, she recorded fifteen digs during Indy’s successful run.

With a team-high 17 kills, Brittany Abercrombie was the main offensive contributor for Orlando. In the game, she was responsible for about 35% of the Valkyries’ kills.

7,500 people were sold out for the Ignite’s debut performance. There are still 13 home games left in Indianapolis’ schedule.

On Thursday at 7 p.m., the Ignite will play their second game of the season at the Fishers Event Center. Before the regular season ends in May, the Ignite will play 28 games.

The Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF), which is still in its infancy, includes the Ignite. In January 2024, the PVF’s first season got underway.

This month marked the start of the league’s second season. On November 25, the 2024 PVF Draft took place.
