IPS bringing archery into physical education
Indianapolis, Indiana – The goal of Indianapolis Public Schools is to reinstate archery in physical education programs.
To prepare for the pupils, physical education teachers from all throughout the district convened for a training session on Tuesday. Reaching pupils of all ability levels and obtaining at least one teacher trained under the “National Archery in Schools Program” are the objectives.
“It’s a unique sport, and it allows everyone..it’s so inclusive for all of our students to be part of something,” said Kathy Langdon, coordinator for physical education and health.
Some schools already offer archery instruction. Students in grades four through twelve are the target audience for these classes. According to IPS, they also intend to include archery in educational programs.
