IU men’s basketball lands Pittsburgh transfer Xavier Johnson
Xavier Johnson announced Wednesday evening that he will be transferring to IU from the University of Pittsburgh.
Johnson, a junior point guard, averaged 14.2 points per game this season with the Panthers. Johnson provides the Hoosiers another option as a scoring guard alongside juniors Rob Phinisee, Parker Stewart and sophomore Armaan Franklin — if he withdraws from the transfer portal.
Johnson became the 47th player in Pitt program history to reach 1,000 points on Jan. 6 against Syracuse University.
Johnson is the first transfer to sign with IU since Mike Woodson was hired as head coach March 28.
