Jailer in Monroe County struck in the head with a thermos

Bloomington, Indiana – After being struck in the head by a guy brandishing a thermos, a jailer for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is making a full recovery.
A man named Christopher Head allegedly hit MCSO Jailer Avery Brahaum in the head with a thermos while he was on duty outside the Monroe County Jail. On Saturday, the event happened about 11:36 a.m.
Following the event, Brahaum required seven staples to close a cut on the back of his skull. According to the MCSO, Head was detained right away and charged with Level 5 felony violence on a public safety personnel.
Head was taken to the Monroe County Detention Center where he was also first charged with five counts of violence and theft. Before hitting the MCSO jailer, Head reportedly attacked several persons near the B-Line Trail.
Around the same period, a number of social gatherings occurred, including the Bloomington Farmers’ Market, Lemonade Stand Day, and an art festival.
