Kilroy’s on Kirkwood to reopen Friday
Bloomington, Indiana – Somebody hung a banner from the apartments in the 100 block of E. Kirkwood to demand that Kilroy’s on Kirkwood be reopened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bar has been closed since last year when the pandemic began. Only about 30-percent of Hoosiers are fully vaccinated, but Monroe County remains in a yellow advisory.
The virus has killed 574-thousand Americans. Last week in India, 2800 people per day were dying, and 350-thousand were being infected. The double blind variant of the coronavirus in India has now been detected in the United States, but it’s thought the current vaccine will protect against it.
The CDC announced that Americans who are vaccinated can go unmasked in public, but should continue to mask in large crowds. Kilroy’s on Kirkwood, popular with college students, announced via Instagram in an April 27 post that it will reopen this Friday. The Instagram post says all patrons will have to remain masked while not seated, and tables will be 6 feet apart, among other precautions.
