Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department welcomes two new officers
BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department welocmes two new officers, Deputy Andrea K. Barnett and Deputy Anthony G. Pope Jr.
These officers were sworn in on Monday by the Honorable Judge Nathan Nikirk of Lawrence Circuit Court.
Deputy Andrea K. Barnett is a graduate of Scecina High School In Indianapolis and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human and Environmental Science with a minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
She is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and previously worked as a deputy for the Martin County Sheriff’s Department for two years.
Barnett enjoys spending her free time with family, hiking, and playing sports.Deputy Anthony G. Pope Jr. graduated from Bloomington South High School and received a scholarship to wrestle at the University of Great Falls Montana. He is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and previously served as a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Pope currently holds the rank of staff sergeant as a fourteen-year member of the Indiana National Guard. He is married to Kara Pope and has five children.
“We are excited to welcome these new officers to our ranks,” said Chief Deputy Gregg Taylor. “We look forward to their dedication and service to the citizens of Lawrence County as the newest members of our department.”
