Madison County, Indiana – In a horrific early-morning collision in Madison County involving a riding lawn mower and a minivan, a man was killed, according to authorities.
The collision occurred in the 3000 block of East State Road 236 at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
A 57-year-old woman was operating a black 2013 Dodge Caravan eastbound when it collided with a man operating a zero-turn riding lawnmower.
Deputies arrived to find both the minivan and lawnmower completely immersed in flames after both vehicles burst into flames. Bradley Swigeart, 56, the man operating the mower, passed away there.
According to the Accident Investigation Team of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, investigators found that the mower had no lights when it crashed.
The van’s driver was brought to an Anderson hospital, where she received treatment and was later let go. Police said the crash is still under investigation and toxicology results are still pending.
