Indianapolis, Indiana – After a man exposed himself in front of her salon in Indianapolis, the owner of the business is issuing a warning.

Tuesday’s incident took place inside the Flecther Place neighborhood’s Indie Mane Salon while clients were there. The entire event was recorded by security cameras.

Owner Belinda Benham claimed that she was in the middle of an appointment when it occurred.

“I said to my client, I was like, I think there is a guy outside,” she described. “And to my horror, I walk over and peak around, and I see him with his privates out in between the [fence] bars.”

Belinda claimed that as soon as she saw it, she sprinted outdoors. She claimed that it was obvious that the man was not peeing either.

Belinda reported that a worker was nearby, perched on the patio of the establishment and reading a book. Fortunately, Belinda claimed the worker was unaware of the man’s exposure.

“I was in shock seeing that and my brain did not want to believe that was happening,” she said.

Belinda claimed that throughout the entire time, her primary concern was for her staff.

“In a weird way, I’m glad it happened to me and none of my employees,” she said. “I am a training salon. My youngest employee is 19. We’re mostly all women, and it is my job to protect them, and for that to happen on my property freaks me out.”

The man walked away when Belinda approached him, finally leaving in a pickup vehicle with a rubbish bag covering the license plate.

“Everything was premeditated,” she said. “I don’t want him doing this to anyone else. That’s why I’m being so loud about it.”

Belinda reported the incident to the police. After all of this, she declared that security cameras are a need for every business.

“I feel like cameras are non-negotiable,” she said. “And in any crazy like unusual situation, my advice is if something doesn’t seem right, take pictures and film it.”

Detectives, according to Belinda, inform her that any charges would be extremely unlikely in the absence of her security film of the actual act. She claimed that she had already received calls from people who wanted to identify the person, and she had given the police that further information.
