Man shot and killed on the near northeast side of Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Indiana – On Sunday afternoon, a person was shot and died on Indianapolis’ near northeast side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said at a press conference that shortly before 4 p.m., police were sent to the 2400 block of Hillside Ave. in response to a complaint of gunfire. Police found an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene.

The man was declared deceased at the scene, according to IMPD.

According to the police, there was some sort of disturbance before the shooting. Additionally, investigators think that the individuals engaged in the incident knew one another.

The IMPD has stated that an individual who was purportedly involved in the shooting has been placed under police custody; however, the person has not yet been formally placed under arrest as authorities are still investigating their specific involvement in the incident. According to the officers, they don’t have any more details about possible suspects.

Once his family has been duly informed of his passing, the decedent’s name will be made public by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. Also, MCCO will assist in determining the victim’s precise mode of death and cause of death.
