Metered parking in Bloomington is free until at least Sunday

Bloomington, Indiana – In an email, Desiree DeMolina, the director of communications for the office of the mayor, stated that because of the considerable snowfall over the weekend, the city had decided not to request payment.
She noted that the snow made it difficult to get around parking meters.
“While we continue to work to clear things out and make parking more accessible, it was our courtesy to visitors and residents,” DeMolina stated.
To determine whether the snow has been appropriately removed around meters, the city will reevaluate the situation on Sunday. However, long-term parking at these locations can impede staff’s efforts to remove the snow, DeMolina warned.
The National Weather Service reports that the storms from last Friday and January 5–6 dumped 15.1 inches of snow on Bloomington. A city regulation mandates that businesses and households clear snow and ice from their sidewalks within 24 hours following the end of snowfall.
The city’s uReport system allows citizens to report snow and ice that has been uncleared.
