Mitchell woman arrested after police find meth in her purse
BEDFORD – A Mitchell woman was arrested Wednesday after a Bedford Police officer was conducting a routine patrol in the area of 16th and H streets when he witnessed a gray Dodge Durango, with only one working brake light.
The officers stopped the driver on Q Street.
The driver was a male and he had a female passenger, 33-year-old Rachel Jones, in the vehicle.
The officer noticed Jones moving around in the vehicle.
Although the driver appeared nervous, he gave police permission to search the vehicle.
Jones was asked to leave her purse in the vehicle but she refused. Officers say she continued to hide her purse.
She finally consented to allow officers to search her purse and person.
In her purse, officers located a plastic baggie that contained crystal meth. Jones was arrested on a charge of possession of meth.
The male driver was issued a warning for the non-working brake light and was released from the scene.
