Monroe County Area COVID-19 Statistics Decreasing

Monroe County’s seven-day all-test COVID-19 positivity rate hasn’t been more than 1% since early February.
The last time the local positivity rate was this consistently low was at the very beginning of the pandemic, more than one year ago. A low positivity rate, or percent positive, means that the rate of virus transmission is low.
The Indiana Department of Health reported just four new Monroe County COVID-19 cases Monday – the lowest number in six months. However, there were also just 219 tests administered since Sunday. Monroe County hasn’t seen a COVID-19 death since Feb. 26.
Statewide, IDOH reported 480 new positive cases and five additional confirmed deaths, bringing the state’s case number to 667,736 and confirmed death toll to 12,315.
The statewide seven-day all-test positivity rate dropped to 3.1%.
In the last 24 hours, more than 6,000 Hoosiers received a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while more than 7,000 Hoosiers became fully vaccinated. There are now more than 700,000 Hoosiers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
In Monroe County, 97 people received a first dose, and 170 people became fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours. More than 14,000 people have been fully vaccinated in Monroe County.
