New apartment complex in Indianapolis offering affordable housing options

Indianapolis, Indiana – “Workforce housing development,” this is how the new apartment complex near downtown Indianapolis is described by the investors.

The apartment complex is located on Lewis Street, south of 16th Street near the Frank and Judy O’Bannon Soccer Park and it’s called Wesmont.

What differs this apartment complex from the others is the fact that majority of the 188-units in the building will be reserved for people that match or have lower income to the area’s median income. Investors say their project is great opportunity for everyone who wants to be close to all downtown attractions, but avoiding the downtown cost of living.

“We are just outside of downtown, so rather than paying for your premium downtown apartment building it’s still convenient to Bottleworks, it’s still convenient to lots of historic urban neighborhoods, but it is still a little bit cheaper and a little bit easier to get around; we have free parking that sort of thing,” Micahel Taft, a development associate at TWG, told WRTV.

This is just another project in the list of Indianapolis city’s neighborhood-driven affordable redevelopment plan.
