Indianapolis, Indiana – On Sunday night, a motorist on the west side of Indianapolis struck a church after veering off the road.

The driver who struck the church, which is off Arnolda Avenue and West Walnut Street, struck his congregation’s building after sideswiping one automobile, according to Floyd Graham, the pastor of Canaan Baptist.

Graham stated, “The driver of the vehicle was traveling west on the street when he side-swiped another vehicle.” “It ran into the church after veering off.”

Graham was informed by on-scene witnesses that the car that struck his church may have been intoxicated at the time of the collision. Graham added that he was informed by witnesses that the car’s driver fled the area on foot following the collision.

“Well, my wish for the driver is that he is not hurt,” Graham remarked. “I pray that he is okay, but I also pray that he surrenders to the police and makes an effort to resolve this.”

It is not unusual for automobiles to race past his church and the other surrounding homes, Graham continued. In an attempt to encourage vehicles to slow down, Graham added, locals have been requesting that the City of Indianapolis put speed bumps in the area.

Graham remarked, “There are a lot of speeders running up and down this street right here.” Some of the locals have been requesting that cars slow down and that some of those bumper stops be installed in the road. However, nothing has occurred as of yet.

Before the incident, Canaan Baptist Church had undergone some repairs, according to Graham. He went on to say that his church will still meet despite the tragedy on Saturday.

According to Graham, “it’s going to put us in sort of like a setback for now.” “However, we will continue to serve here and honor the Lord’s name.”

There is currently little information available about the crash and the motorist involved because the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has not yet made its report on the incident public.
