Pence to visit Bloomington Covid-19 vaccine facility Tuesday

Bloomington, Indiana – Vice President Mike Pence is visiting Bloomington on Tuesday to tour a vaccine production facility, his office announced Friday.
Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton announced in a Friday news conference Pence will visit the pharmaceutical company Catalent’s facility on Patterson Drive.
Pence will also lead a roundtable discussion on Operation Warp Speed, the public-private partnership initiated by the government to help develop, manufacture and distribute COVID-19 vaccines.
Indiana received 55,575 doses of the newly Food and Drug Administration approved Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which will be distributed to Hoosier frontline workers in the next week. The Monroe County Board of Health discussed plans last week for the IU Health Bloomington hospital to administer 5,000 COVID-19 vaccines. The Bloomington hospital is responsible for vaccinating all health care workers eligible for the first phase of vaccination, not just IU Health workers.
Pence will return to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday evening, according to his office.
