Person shot in West Lafayette’s Walmart parking lot; suspect taken into custody
West Lafayette, Indiana – In the West Lafayette Walmart parking lot, a person was shot and hurt.
Around 6:22 p.m. on Sunday night, West Lafayette Police Department officers were called to the Walmart at 2801 Northwestern Ave. due to reports of a shooting.
When the police arrived, they discovered an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Before being sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, the victim received medical assistance from the officers. Officers reported that the injuries did not seem to be life-threatening.
After that, the victim was discharged from the hospital.
The perpetrator and victim may have known one another, according to WLPD’s initial inquiry into the incident. The Indiana State Police SWAT squad executed a search warrant at a home close to Athens at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Cade Monroe Davies-Gaeta, 18, was detained by West Lafayette police on a preliminary accusation of robbery with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily harm. Police said he also had a warrant out for his arrest.
Investigations into the shooting are still ongoing.
