Richmond man taken into custody by WCSD on suspicion of receiving stolen property and fleeing the scene of a fatal fire

Wayne County, Indiana – The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department apprehended a wanted Richmond man on Friday.
According to a news statement from the Preble County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio, the suspect, 23-year-old Anthony Luker Jr., has been formally charged with receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree crime.
Luker Jr. is charged with fleeing the scene of a fatal fire as well. A mobile home near New Paris, Ohio, at 6599 State Route 121 West caught fire Thursday night, according to Preble County Sheriff’s Deputies. When authorities arrived at the scene at 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, they discovered Kenneth Doolin, a 57-year-old Ohio resident, had perished in the blaze.
According to the Preble County Sheriff’s Deputies, one woman managed to escape the trailer fire. Additionally, according to officials, Luker Jr. allegedly drove away from the fire site in a car that wasn’t his.
According to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, the car Luker Jr. reportedly escaped in was found in Connersville, Indiana. Luker Jr. may have been associated with an attempted theft of a vehicle in the Connersville area, thus the Connersville Police Department was also looking for him before he was arrested.
According to information provided by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, Luker Jr. should also be contacted regarding the investigation into a mobile home fire.
