Seven addresses are subject of a precautionary water-boiling advisory from City of Bloomington Utilitiesvv
Bloomington, Indiana – City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) crews were called to the Stands on Sunday, May 28th, to fix a damaged drinking water main. If nothing else is announced, a precautionary boil water advisory will be in effect until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30th, for seven locations that are now without water. Visit bloomington.in.gov/utilities or call 812-339-1444 for addresses and more information.
When the pressure in the water main falls below 20 psi, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) mandates that all public water systems issue a precautionary Boil Water Advisory. Those impacted should adhere to following guidelines:
• Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least 5 minutes prior to consumption.
• It is not essential to boil water for other uses.
• Run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water runs from the faucet as soon as your regular water pressure is restored.
Customers who have subscribed to the Monroe County Alert will receive immediate notifications. For a list of the precise addresses impacted, CBU customers can go visit the CBU website at bloomington.in.gov/utilities. You can register for the Monroe County Alert at www.co.monroe.in.us by clicking “Resident Alert Sign UV” if you haven’t already. With the use of this technology, CBU and other government agencies are able to immediately give you important information, such as tornado warnings and advises concerning road closures, missing people, and evacuations that are particular to the addresses you register or the county as a whole. You can choose what kinds of notifications you would like to receive when you register to get time-sensitive messages via text, email, or home phone.
Please get in touch with the City of Bloomington Utilities at 812-339-1444 if you have any inquiries or concerns.
