State Rep Under Indictment For Impersonating Officer Files For Re-Election
The Indiana Department of State’s education division website shows State Rep. Dan Forestal registered to run in the Democratic Party primary on Jan. 8.
The Forestal’s office did not immediately respond Friday to a call from WFIU.
In August, Forestal was arrested after officers were called about a man impersonating a police officer. He was charged with drunk driving and resisting law enforcement as well as impersonation of a public servant, which is a felony.
Forestal represents parts of Indianapolis and was first elected to the House in 2012. He is also a firefighter but was suspended from active duty shortly after his arrest.
A pretrial conference is scheduled for March 10 at the Marion Superior Court.
The primary is May 5.
