Teenager shot on Indianapolis’ west side
Indianapolis, Indiana – On Saturday night, a teenager was shot on Indianapolis’ west side.
Officers were called to the 1400 block of Gerrard Drive, which is close to the intersection of Plainfield Avenue and South Lynhurst Drive, at around 9:01 p.m. on a report of a person shot, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Officers found a male adolescent with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds when they arrived on the scene.
The teen’s injuries are likely to be healed, according to IMPD, which also stated that his health is stable at the moment.
Police concluded after a preliminary investigation that the victim was strolling down the street when he got into a fight with a suspect in a car. The victim was hit by a bullet that was fired during the altercation, according to IMPD.
Detectives with the IMPD are currently attempting to obtain a description of the suspect car that was utilized in the incident. Police said they are trying to get CCTV footage and are searching the neighborhood for evidence.
According to investigators, there is no continuing threat to the community as a result of the incident.
