Carmel, Indiana – The biggest winter multi-sport competition of the year is back to Carmel, so get your friends together to compete and have fun.

The 2023 Carmel Winter Games organizers are preparing for another excellent event in February that will help a worthy cause.

The fun begins on Friday, February 10, when city cops and firefighters compete in the Hometown Hero Olympics. The Carmel Winter Games are on February 11th, a Saturday. Both occasions will happen at Carter Green’s Ice. The general public is encouraged to attend the competitions and support the athletes.

Three winter games competitions – Ice Trike Relays, Human Curling, and Human Hungry Hippo—are open to teams of four to twelve athletes. Anyone who is at least 15 years old may take part. Everyone who competes must sign a waiver, and minors must have their parents sign the waiver on their behalf.

The deadline to register a team online is February 7 at noon. For the duration of the games, teams must compete in each of the three events.

“It is a great time to experience skateless games on the ice — so they’re not in skates, they’re wearing cleats. It’s a great event,” McFeely said.

The organizations to help will be chosen by the game winners from a list that has been approved by the city, according to McFeely.

“You pay an entry fee and that fee goes to a local charity. The cool thing is that whoever wins the game gets to choose which charity that goes to,” McFeely said.

The Carmel Youth Assistance Program, Prime Life Enrichment Center, Children’s Thera Play Foundation, Carmel Clay Historical Society, Hero’s Club, and four Carmel food pantries are among the organizations on the list.

According to McFeely, the event is essentially about giving back.

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, it’s only bad clothing. So, in the wintertime, we try to find reasons for people to get together, just like we do in the summertime. If you can have that added element of making a charitable, then that’s even better,” McFeely said.
