The body of the Bloomington man who went missing after his vehicle swept away in floodwaters is found
Bloomington, Indiana – Bloomington man’s body was recovered on Sunday after he went missing when his vehicle was swept into floodwaters.
The incident occurred near South College Avenue and West Dodds Street. The police said the vehicle driven by 31-year-old Colten Booe, drove into rapidly-moving floodwaters.
Booe’s friend who was in the vehicle when the accident happened, told the officers that the vehicle drifted and eventually collided with an unknown object. Luckily, the friend managed to get out of the vehicle fast through the passenger door window and the car was immediately dragged underwater with Booe still trapped inside. That’s the last time the friend saw Booe and his car.
Police were able to find the vehicle on Saturday with extensive damage from being swept down the flooded creek and it was located in Switchyard Park. However, the victim was not inside the car.
Authorities found the dead body Sunday morning near Clear Creek.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine Booe’s cause of death.
