Indianapolis, Indiana – Later this week, I-465 on the southeast side of Indianapolis will close once more to allow for the restoration of the bridge deck and pavement.

On the southeast side of Indianapolis, between I-65 and I-70, INDOT will close I-465 northbound as of July 12.

There will be lane reductions from the I-465/I-70 interchange to 56th St. in addition to the closure. Two lanes will be used for traffic on weekends. Three lanes will be open during the week.

Beginning on the dates and hours listed below, the following ramps will likewise be closed:

• Northbound and southbound I-65 to northbound/eastbound I-465 (7/12 at 9 p.m.)
• Eastbound and westbound Washington St./U.S. 40 to northbound I-465 (7/12 at 9 p.m.)
• Eastbound and westbound Brookville Rd./U.S. 52 to northbound I-465 (7/12 at 9 p.m.)

According to INDOT, the closure will last three weeks, and on Monday, August 5, all traffic will resume.

The official detour, according to the government, is I-65 northbound to I-70 eastbound and then back to I-465 northbound.

Six phases of restoration work on I-465 between I-65 and US-31 are planned by INDOT. The second closing is this one. The organization anticipates finishing up by spring 2025.
