Indianapolis, Indiana – Tuesday afternoon, travel advisories were issued for over 30 counties due to ice, snow, and hazardous roads.

The second tier of travel restrictions falls under the orange “watch” category. It means that road conditions are threatening the safety of the public. Only essential travel, such as to and from work and in emergency situations, is recommended.

Only Orange County was in the “orange” category as of 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday.

The lightest level of travel restriction is the yellow “advisory” category. It means that regular activities or travel may be limited in some locations due to dangerous road conditions. Drivers ought to be cautious or stay away from certain regions.

More than a dozen counties were classified as “yellow” as of 1:30 on Tuesday.

The majority of the counties affected were in the state’s southern region, close to the Indiana-Kentucky border.
