Unknown man murdered close to Wheeler Mission



Bloomington, Indiana – At 5:40 p.m. on December 7, officers responded to reports of a death close to Wheeler Mission in the 200 block of S. Westplex Ave.

A caller reported finding an unidentified guy in a forested area close to Wheeler Mission; the caller suspected the male to be deceased, according to Captain Ryan Pedigo of the Bloomington Police Department. When the officers got there, they found the dead man.

According to the press release, the man had serious visible injuries, including cuts and/or being struck by a sharp item.

To gather information about the man’s death, investigators searched the area and spoke with several people. Craig Pearson, a 42-year-old man described as transient—that is, lacking a fixed address—in the press release. After being located, Pearson was sent to Monroe Country Jail. The murder case against him has been remanded.

The Monroe County Coroner’s Office has not yet verified the victim’s identification.
