Washington Township Schools names new superintendent

Indianapolis, Indiana – Following the completion of a board meeting on Wednesday, Washington Township Schools announced the appointment of a new superintendent.
According to a news release, the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township’s Board of Education authorized Sean Taylor’s appointment as the district’s next superintendent.
Taylor will take up the new position on July 1st, 2025.
Taylor has spent the previous 16 years employed for Washington Township Schools, most recently as the associate superintendent of the organization. Prior to joining Washington Township Schools in 2009, Taylor held positions as an assistant principal, an English language arts teacher at a middle school, and a teacher in an elementary school.
Taylor holds a doctorate in executive educational leadership from Indiana University in Bloomington, a master’s degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina, and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Ball State University.
Taylor’s appointment was decided upon following the distribution of a poll to community members in May. A number of rounds of interviews with chosen candidates were held after this.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to step into the role of superintendent for this outstanding
district that I have proudly served for the past 16 years in various leadership and principal roles,” said Taylor. “Having had the privilege of 5 years of exemplary mentorship from our current
superintendent to my work across our school communities, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication, talent, and diversity that make our district truly a destination district. This deep understanding of our district’s strengths, challenges, and opportunities will allow me to help sustain and build upon the excellence we’ve achieved together.”
