While racing through a construction zone in Vermillion County, an Illinois lady arrested for DUI

Newport, Indiana – According to Indiana State Police, an Illinois lady was taken into custody on Friday afternoon for racing through a work zone in Vermillion County while intoxicated.
A Putnamville State Police Post trooper noticed a red passenger car speeding toward him at 1:10 p.m. while on patrol on State Road 234 close to a construction zone.
After that, the trooper turned on his radar and saw that the car was traveling 45 mph. The driver of the car, Claudia Scoggins, 72, of Eldorado, Illinois, was apprehended by the trooper.
According to the police, Scoggins was failing field sobriety tests despite showing signs of intoxication. After being sent to Clinton’s Union Hospital, she underwent a verified chemical test.
According to authorities, the results of the Scoggins test showed a blood alcohol percentage of 15%. The threshold for Indiana is 0.08.
After being taken into custody, she was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering others, and reckless driving in a workplace. She was then turned over to the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department jail.
