White House confirms the vaccination rate goal won’t be achieved by July 4

White House and Biden administration confirmed that the July 4 vaccination rate goal won’t be missed. When Biden took over the White House in January, he said his primary focus as a president is to reach 70% of the adult population vaccinated by July 4 with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccines.

In White House latest press conference, Covid-19 coordinator Jeff Zients told reporters the U.S. will like fall short of the goal set by the president.

“We are there. The virus is in retreat in communities across the country. … we are in store for a summer of freedom,” Zients said.

“We have built an unparalleled, first-of-its-kind nationwide vaccination program,” Zients added. “We want every American in every community to be free from fear of the virus…we’re not stopping at 70%, and we’re not stopping on July 4.”
