170 FedEx employees laid off at Indy location

Indianapolis, Indiana – A management and operations center owned by FedEx with 170 employees is closing on the southwest side of the city.
FedEx reportedly announced its plan to close the facility at 5425 Exploration Drive, which will result in the loss of 170 jobs, in a WARN notice submitted to the City of Indianapolis.
FedEx said that its customer’s choice to move its operations to a new location under the management of a new third-party logistics provider “necessitated” the decision to close the facility.
According to the WARN notice, employees started receiving notifications of the shutdown on June 29.
FedEx announced that it would advise the affected employees about other FedEx openings and attempt to help place workers at other FedEx sites close by.
By August 30, the facility’s closure will be complete.
