2020 Indiana Mr. Football declares for upcoming NFL Draft

Indianapolis, Indiana – The goal of a former Indiana Mr. Football player is to become a professional football player.
Carson Steele, a junior running back from UCLA and the 2020 Indiana Mr. Football, declared for the 2024 NFL Draft on Wednesday, skipping his final year.
In a post on X, formally known as Twitter, Steele said in part, “I’m excited to announce that with God’s plan, I will be forgoing my senior year and entering into the 2024 NFL draft.”
With 847 yards gained on the ground this season, Steele—a graduate of Center Grove High School—led the Bruins in rush yards. Six touchdowns came via his rush as well.
Receiving was another area in which Steele excelled; at the end of the 2023 campaign, he had 163 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Steele played for two seasons at Ball State before spending one season at UCLA.
He concluded his 2022 campaign with the Cardinals with 1,556 running yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.
Meanwhile, he amassed 891 yards on the ground and six rushing touchdowns in his 2021 campaign at Ball State.
Before playing collegiate football, Steele had a successful career. Steele ran for 1,659 yards and 31 touchdowns in his last year at Center Grove High School, when he was voted Indiana Mr. Football. He played a part in the Trojans’ victory in the IHSAA 6A State Championship Game.
Steele was named the Gatorade Indiana Football Player of the Year for that season in part because of those stats.
Steele also expressed gratitude to his Center Grove instructors for helping him get to this point in his article announcing the NFL Draft.
“I would like to say thank you to Coach Moore and Coach Timmons, as well as, my strength coordinator, Coach Mills as they guided me through high school to be able to have success at the collegiate level,” Steele said.
The NFL Draft is scheduled to occur in Detroit, Michigan on April 25–27.
