Indianapolis, Indiana – The fire department joined 17-year-old Benny Ray in celebrating after he rang the bell at Riley Hospital for Children.
The Plainfield teenager is nearing the conclusion of his chemotherapy treatments, which lasted more than two years.
Even though ringing the bell would have been a significant milestone in and of itself, he was joined in celebrating by over 40 firefighters from the Plainfield Fire Department.
Benny aspires to be like his father, who has been with the police for 17 years. The future firefighter was astounded by the number of people who showed up.
“I feel like my emotions are overpowering me,” he remarked. “I am at a loss for what to think. The best way to express it is that.
He described himself as “beyond happy.”
Regarding stopping his treatments, he remarked, “I have literally dreamed about it, ringing the bell and finally being done.”
According to Plainfield Fire Department employee Thomas Hostetler, “We were all thrilled to celebrate with him.” “I believe this simply demonstrates that everyone cares, as you always hear the fire department is a family.”
