Following a bullet wound to the shoulder during a welfare check, the condition of the Morgan County deputy is stable
Indianapolis, Indiana – While responding to a welfare check in Martinsville early on Tuesday morning, a Morgan County sheriff’s deputy was shot and hurt, according to the police.
Dep. Mallory Schwab, who started working at the sheriff’s office earlier this month, was identified as the deputy. According to Rich Myers, the sheriff for Morgan County, her status is stable.
During a news conference, Myers stated that at approximately 7:30 a.m., a teenager called the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office to report a male individual who had shared on social media about potentially hurting himself.
Deputies showed up there and were met with silence at the door. A little later, the man shot Schwab once in the shoulder from inside the home.
After being taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital, the deputy was given medical attention for her wounds.
According to Myers, there was no threat to the neighborhood around the area, and the individual is currently being accompanied by cops.
The inquiry will be carried out by Indiana State Police.
