Man from Southern Indiana receives 55 years for killing a woman by beheading her
Jeffersonville, Indiana – A guy from southern Indiana was given a maximum of 55 years in jail after entering a guilty plea to the murder of a lady whose disfigured, decapitated body was discovered inside her burning apartment.
In October, Brian Montez Williams, a resident of Clarksville, Indiana, entered a guilty plea to one count of murder in connection with the July 2021 death of Melody Gambetty, 67. The prosecution dismissed the arson allegation as part of a plea deal.
Her body was discovered by Clarksville firefighters who were called to an apartment fire. Other body parts had been taken, and Gambetty had been decapitated. Police alleged that those body parts were later discovered at Williams’ residence in a suitcase.
Investigators speculated that a break-in or home invasion may have preceded the incident. According to them, Williams went back to Gambetty’s flat the day after she passed away and set a fire to hide evidence.
