Indiana sees an increase in flu-related deaths to 75
Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indiana State Department of Health released updated statistics on Friday that show that 75 people have died from the flu in Indiana this season.
In its weekly report, the state included nine new flu deaths. Of those, seven passed away just last week.
Indiana has already documented 164 deaths at this time last winter—more than twice as many as we have so far this winter. In the 2022–2023 season, there were 270 flu-related deaths in Indiana.
Marion and Tippecanoe are two new counties that are reported to have at least five flu-related deaths.
Indiana’s flu virus activity is classified as moderate by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is a little higher than it was a week ago.
