Clark County, Indiana – A former Clark County sheriff’s wife was taken into custody on Thursday on several felonies, including tax evasion and theft.
The 52-year-old Jamey Noel’s wife, Misty Noel, is facing charges after her husband was taken into custody in November on comparable grounds.
According to a notice from Indiana State Police, Jamey’s case was first investigated in June 2023.
The current Clark County sheriff, who they claim assisted with the inquiry, had filed many misconduct reports with the authorities.
After the prosecutor for Ripley County reviewed the case, Jamey was charged with many felonies:
• One count of corrupt business influence
• Two counts of theft, level 5 felony
• Three counts of theft, level 6 felony
• Four counts of ghost employment
• Four counts of official misconduct
• One county of obstruction of justice
Jamey was taken into custody at the Scott County Detention Center on November 8 and was given a $75,000 cash bond. Jamey entered a not-guilty plea to the corruption accusations, days after his detention.
On Thursday, Misty was accused and taken into custody on comparable charges. She was charged with five charges of stealing over $50,000 and five counts of tax evasion following further investigation.
Jamey was charged with fifteen offenses in addition to five counts of stealing over $50,000 and five counts of tax evasion.
Until her initial hearing on Monday, Misty remained detained at the Scott County Detention Center without being granted bond.
Jamey was then freed on bond, according to the police. May 6 was designated for a jury trial.
