Sexual exploitation of a toddler results with 25-year-long sentence for southern Indiana man
Indianapolis, Indiana – The 26-year-old man was accused and found guilty for sexual exploitation of a toddler was sentenced to 25 years in prison the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Indiana announced on Tuesday.
The man was identified as 26-year-old Gage Campos of North Vernon and he was found guilty for both creating and collecting sexually explicit images of children.
National Center for Missing and Exploiting Children (NCMEC) was informed by Google that one of Campos’ accounts was used for searching material related to the sexual abuse of children. NCMEC passed this report to FBI and Indiana State Police and they used this report as an evidence to track Campos down as a user.
Campos was arrested in September last year at his home in Jennings County. When officers entered his home, they were able to recover evidence against him, received a confession from Campos and made sure the child was safe.
The available court reports indicate that Campos was collecting sexual child abuse material for at least four years before he was arrested.
“The citizens of the Southern District of Indiana rightfully expect swift and coordinated action by law enforcement and their partners to investigate and prosecute persons such as Mr. Campos, ” Acting U.S. Attorney John E. Childress stated. “His significant sentence of imprisonment sends a strong message to others who might consider imitating his reprehensible conduct.”
Campos was also sentenced to 20 years of supervised release and was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to the minor victim.
