154 pounds of cocaine discovered by state police during an I-70 traffic stop
Indianapolis, Indiana – More than 150 pounds of cocaine were found after a routine traffic stop on Interstate 70 in Indianapolis on a Friday afternoon.
State police stated in a release on Saturday that a state trooper pulled over a semi without a trailer at roughly 2:30 p.m. on eastbound I-70 close to Post Road after the driver changed lanes without signaling.
The California state trooper became suspicious while chatting with the motorist, 43-year-old Onkar Singh, and requested a police K-9.
K-9 for Indiana State Police Soon after, Cole and his handler arrived. The presence of illegal substances was discovered by Cole’s handler after he conducted an open-air sniffing around the semi.
In the sleeping bunk of the semi, which was examined by state authorities, 154 pounds of cocaine were discovered.
According to state police, the cocaine had a street worth of $2.8 million.
Singh was taken into custody after being charged with felony narcotics dealing and was still there as of Saturday morning. “This significant drug seizure is a result of sustained and persistent efforts by troopers assigned to our drug enforcement section,” ISP Indianapolis District Commander, Lt. Josh Watson, said in a release. “They spend countless hours patrolling our highways and diligently utilizing their specialized training and experience to intercept and seize illegal narcotics being transported in and through Indiana.”
