Fat Tuesday at Circle City Sweets
Indianapolis, Indiana – During Mardi Gras, local bakers are reintroducing popular Fat Tuesday treats. Before the traditional fasting of Lent season starts, this is your chance to enjoy a tasty King Cake.
Circle City Sweets employees began filling pre-orders early in the morning.
Owner Cindy Hawkins demonstrated how to make the King Cake, beignets, and sugar cookies decorated in green, purple, and gold.
Before Mardi Gras, Hawkins and her workers finished the majority of the baking.
To symbolize good fortune for the person who finds it, the glazed King Cakes traditionally conceal a tiny plastic child in the dough.
