Edge rusher Samson Ebukam and the Colts reach a three-year, $27 million agreement
Indianapolis, Indiana – The Indianapolis Colts’ pass rush has been addressed after a busy day of roster construction.
According to a person with knowledge of the arrangement, the organization and former San Francisco 49ers defensive end Samson Ebukam have reached a three-year, $27 million pact. Adam Schefter of ESPN broke the news first.
The 27-year-old Ebukam has produced 4.5 or more sacks in each of his last four seasons, including 9.5 in his last two seasons with the 49ers. The last two seasons saw 24 quarterback hits for the 6-3, 245-pounder.
With Gus Bradley’s defense, Ebukam most likely takes over for Yannick Ngakoue at the LEO position, which is edge rusher. Ngakoue, who joined the Colts in a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders and recorded 9.5 sacks in his sole season with the team, is set to become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
Ebukam was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2017 draft. He signed with San Francisco after spending four seasons with the Rams.
He has 96 game appearances, 61 starts, 23.5 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 52 quarterback hits, and 224 tackles to his name.
