Three workforce development initiatives in Hamilton County will receive $45K from the Duke Energy Foundation
The Hamilton County, Montana – More than $300,000 in shareholder-funded grants from the Duke Energy Foundation will be given to 16 groups around Indiana that offer opportunities for Hoosiers to pursue education, employment, and specialized training.
“The most important investment we can make is in the people and communities we serve,” Duke Energy Indiana President Stan Pinegar said. “Our Workforce Development Program grants aim to meet the needs of local employers while also providing resources and education to individuals to set them up for success in the workforce of the future.”
The Workforce Development Grant Program of the Duke Energy Foundation provides funding for the grants. The business has given more than $1.2 million in grants over the last five years to groups that are bolstering Indiana’s talent pipeline.
Locally, Hamilton County will receive $45,000 in total:
• Hamilton Southeastern Education Foundation ($10,000): Funds will support the expansion of educational opportunities at the Fishers Agripark, including the installation of an aquaponics lab and a composter powered by renewable energy.
• Sheridan Community Schools ($10,000): Funds will support various activities to expose students to careers in the energy industry.
• The Pursuit Institute ($25,000): Funds will support the development of a mobile classroom to teach local pre-kindergarten through 10th-grade students about sustainable energy.
In order to help communities where Duke Energy customers reside and work, the Duke Energy Foundation offers charitable contributions. The Foundation is supported by Duke Energy shareholders and donates more than $2 million in charitable donations each year to Indiana.
