The Indy Strawberry Festival is scheduled for June 8
Indianapolis, Indiana – In June, Monument Circle will once again host one of the most delicious events of the year.
On Thursday, June 8, the Cathedral Women of Christ Church Cathedral will host the 57th annual Indy Strawberry Festival.
Till stocks run out, strawberry shortcakes will be sold from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The “Works” is a decadent dessert that costs $10 and includes a handmade shortcake, strawberries, ice cream, and whipped topping.
Single goods will once more be offered for sale. Shortcakes and whipped cream are $2 apiece, but strawberries and ice cream are $3 each.
Both cash and credit cards are accepted. On May 25, the bulk and pre-sale order links will become active.
Any surplus funds from the festival are donated to a certain cause. With their Strawberry Festival Grants, the Cathedral Women have contributed to numerous groups in central Indiana, such as El Sisteme Indiana and the Indiana Women in Need Foundation.
On June 10, 1965, the Strawberry Festival hosted its first event. Parishioner Pat Harding proposed that the church host a strawberry festival similar to the ones she enjoyed in her native England.
The Cathedral Women cooked 100 shortcakes for that inaugural event, and all of them were gone in within two hours. The group plans to offer roughly 4 tons of strawberries and more than 15,000 handcrafted shortcakes in 2023.
This year’s strawberry festival will be a little different from previous years because to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument’s north stairs being constructed.
There will be entertainment from the lawn of the Cathedral. Those who don’t want to use the offered tables may use the South stairs of the monument.
