A captain in the Indiana National Guard dies in an Iraqi “noncombat incident”
Indianapolis, Indiana – Last week, an Indiana National Guard soldier lost their life in Iraq.
Captain Eric Richard Hart passed away on December 28, the National Guard’s public affairs office said in a news release. According to the National Guard and the Department of Defense, Hart died as a consequence of a “noncombat-related incident.”
According to the National Guard, the incident that resulted in Hart’s death is still under investigation. Hart was an Indianapolis native who was 34 years old.
In a prepared statement, Indiana National Guard officials said, “The Indiana National Guard extends our heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Capt. Eric Hart, who died in a non-combat incident while overseas serving with the 38th Infantry Division in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.” “They and the soldiers who worked and served with Capt. Hart are in our prayers.” He played a crucial role on both our team and the Cyclone Division team.
We shall miss him. There is currently no more information available; his death is being investigated.
A Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) project, Operation Inherent Resolve “advises, assists, and enables partner forces to secure lasting defeat of ISIS and to enable the establishment of an enduring security cooperation framework,” according to the U.S. government.
No other details regarding Hart’s passing had been released as of the time this article was published.
