Auto shop owner loses business, home, 6 pets in fire
Indianapolis, Indiana – After a huge fire on Monday night destroyed two companies, the walls of a commercial building on Indianapolis’ near-east side are hardly intact.
One of the owners stated that since the fire also destroyed his house, he is not sure what to do next.
According to Ramon Rodriguez, “You see all your future gone.”
That evening, Rodriguez was eating supper with his two nephews when he witnessed a brilliant light close to an oil heater. Despite carrying a fire extinguisher, he said that the flames quickly grabbed control as he dashed from his room to his car dealership downstairs.
His dog and five puppies were still upstairs. The fire had grown too far by the time Rodriguez realized he couldn’t put it out on his own, and he had to leave. He, unfortunately, lost his job at El Palomar Auto Body Repair in addition to his six dogs.
Rodriguez remarked, “It’s devastating because I’m not the only one affected.” There are other employees here. In essence, everyone has lost their jobs.
According to officials from the Indianapolis Fire Department, they loaded a heater with oil that had been inadvertently combined with gasoline in an attempt to stay warm.
“Heaters are used by many people around the city. On the night of the incident, IFD Battalion Chief Rita Reith advised, “Just make sure it is the right mixture of whatever it is that is the manufacturer’s recommendations.”
As the fire spread, motorists on I-70 began dialing 911 as well. Granite Customs, a countertop company, was also located in the building. We’re “still in the process of figuring out how [we] will be moving forward,” the owner informed us.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, declared that he would not give up on his dream.
“My age is 54. I’ve spent my entire life working. It disappears in a matter of seconds,” Rodriguez remarked. “Begin anew. All you can do is that.
According to Rodriguez, two of his kitties did successfully exit the building. The fire did not damage anyone. According to investigators, the cause was “accidental.”
“I can only advise people to love their families.” “You never know what’s going to happen the next day, so make sure you say good night and I love you,” Rodriguez continued.
