Bloomington man arrested for uploading child pornography to Kik
Bloomington, Indiana -The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children told the Bloomington Police Department on Dec. 1 that a Bloomington resident was uploading child pornography through the messaging platform Kik, BPD Capt. Ryan Pedigo said Thursday.
Jerald Porter, 41, was arrested Wednesday for child exploitation. Online tips led police to Porter’s IP address, he said.
BPD received two tips from the NCMC. Porter had 15 pornographic videos of children under the age of 12, Pedigo said.
Pedigo said BPD presented a search warrant on Jan. 5 but it wasn’t served to Porter’s home until Wednesday. Pedigo was unsure why there was so much time between the warrant presentation and home search. Pedigo said detectives searched Porter’s mother’s Willis Drive home, where he lives with his mother and sister.
Porter was booked into the Monroe County Correctional Center on Wednesday and charged with a level 4 felony for child exploitation. Additional technology was seized and is under investigation, Pedigo said.
