City of Bloomington offers free parking to encourage consumers to shop locally at small businesses
Bloomington, Indiana – The City of Bloomington is providing free parking on downtown streets and in city garages through Sunday.
Officials decided to offer free parking in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday and Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday is an annual event that was created as a marketing initiative to encourage consumers to shop locally at small businesses.
Free parking will be available on Saturdays during the whole month of December in all of the public garages located at Trades District, Morton, and Walnut Streets, as well as in the Morton Garage. Additionally, during the weekends of December 23–25 and December 31–January 2, 2023, parking in garages will be free on both Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, parking in city garages as well as on the street is completely free of charge.
- November 24-27: Free on-street and garage parking
- December 3, 10, and 17: Free Saturday garage parking
- December 23-25: Free garage parking
- December 26: Free on-street and garage parking
- December 31-January 1: Free garage parking
- January 2: Free on-street and garage parking
