Collaboration between the Indianapolis Museum of Art and USPS on a unique Christmas stamp
Indianapolis, Indiana – A new holiday stamp for 2024 has been unveiled by the USPS in collaboration with the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields.
This year’s stamp features the beloved work of art and most renowned item in the museum’s collection, “Madonna and Child,” by Italian painter Sassoferrato, who lived in the 17th century.
William Gicker served as the creative director for designer Greg Breeding, who created the stamp, according to museum authorities. There will be 20 stamp booklets available for purchase.
The district manager for USPS Indiana, Christi Johnson-Kennedy, expressed her excitement at the release.
Our Christmas stamp series has long included the beloved “Madonna and Child” stamp. “It is an honor to showcase the original artwork on the 2024 stamp and to have it on display at Newfields in Indianapolis,” the spokesperson stated in a statement.
The dedication ceremony was scheduled for Tuesday at 11:15 a.m. There will be a number of distinguished guests from the USPS and the museum present. The Indy Baroque Orchestra, with artistic director Barthold Kuijken on the flute and Tom Gerber on the Shortridge Harpsichord, will perform, adding to the festivities.
The event will take place at Newfields in the Golden Gallery and Pulliam Family Great Hall entrance.
