Indianapolis, Indiana – With the team that signed him to the NFL, Tyquan Lewis has a second chance to realize his potential.

According to a source with knowledge of the matter, the seasoned defensive lineman will sign a one-year, $2.1 million contract to stay with the Indianapolis Colts. In the second round of the 2018 draft, they chose him.

Lewis, who has torn patellar tendons, has spent the last two seasons on the injured reserve list. He had a similar injury to his right patellar tendon on October 31, 2021, against the Tennessee Titans, and on October 30, 2021, he tore his left patellar tendon against the Washington Commanders.

This is Lewis’ second consecutive season playing with the Colts on a one-year, “prove-it” contract due to the injuries. Last summer, he agreed to a $2.275 million, one-year contract.

Lewis has been an important defensive line rotational player when he is healthy.

He has made 48 starts over the course of five seasons, totaled 70 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 25 quarterback hits, and one interception. After the lone interception against the Titans, he tore his right patellar tendon.

Lewis recorded 14 tackles and 1 sack in 7 games the previous season.
